My Journey with Yoga One and Baptiste Yoga
I found Yoga One after I moved to Charlotte in 2015. I would drive by every day and the sign would beacon me to come inside. I was depressed, disconnected and severely homesick. Finally, in October of 2015, I made it to a class. In that class, I received my first hands-on assist and it changed the game for me. I felt awake; present in my body for the first time in months. I also became aware of how important physical touch was for me and how I was lacking it now that my close friends were far away. In that first class, I was invited to do 40 days and I accepted. Showing up consistently for yoga gave me pause to find myself. It gave me purpose and focus. Three months later I completed teacher training at Yoga One. During the first weeks of teacher training, I found I was pregnant with my 3rd child. Practicing so intensely while pregnant deepened my listening in my body as well as my practice. I completed teacher training in April of 2016 and continued practicing.
October 1st, 2016, my water broke in prenatal yoga at Yoga One. My special yoga baby was born in the early morning hours of October 2nd. In October of 2017, I taught my first yoga class at Yoga One Dilworth. That class was one of those moments where everyone who is supposed to be there is there and everything is just as it should be. Everything came full circle for me when I began teaching prenatal yoga the following month.
Yoga One has been a place of connection for me. It has been my welcome wagon to this beautiful city. Because of Yoga One and my Baptiste practice, I am more explicit with my speech; I am self aware. I am a better wife and mother. This practice grows me every time I step on my mat. It continues to expose pockets of resistance and opportunities for growth every day on and off my mat. I am so blessed to be an instrument for these insights for others as they practice. I am so so glad I found Yoga One.
I am connected, spiritual, & empathetic.
