When I'm not at the studio, you can find me: working for Bank of America, traveling around the world with my husband, enjoying South End, watching everything on Netflix.

My Journey with Yoga One and Baptiste Yoga

My journey with Yoga One began after I moved to Charlotte, in 2011. I was new to the city, and didn’t know a single soul. I was craving connection, and looking to try something new. I ventured into Yoga One, my first class was Daniel’s 90 minute HOT class in which I sat next to a girl who talked about her 20 mile run the previous day. I was nervous to say the least. I had read you have to try something four times before you can truly say you don’t want to come back, and me, being a number and facts kinda lady, I gave it four times. And without a doubt, I was hooked.

I barely made it through each class and the euphoric feeling after class left me coming back for more. And more soon became participation outside of the classes, starting with 40 Days, which led to Assistant Training, and then Teacher Training. In each participation opportunity, I was quickly awakened to YogaOne’s tribal community, to teacher’s remembering my name, to their knowledge of the lives of their students, and dedication to teaching the yoga to every body. With each class based off the Journey into Power, I knew what to expect each class. And what began to surprise and empower me, was the different outputs I would receive out of each class - the breakthrough in the work, the clearness in thought, the want to keep going. I was transformed each and every class!

Yoga gave me so much connection I desperately craved in my early years in Charlotte, I have now earned some life long friends in each YogaOne opportunity. And what’s transpired from my love of yoga is to be available to those who don’t think they are “flexible enough”, “bendy enough”, have a “yoga body enough”. The power of being a yes, and showing up to do the work has led me to exclaim loudly, and surprisingly to some, that I am a Yoga One teacher. I am for the power and journey in each class, the excitement and euphoric feeling after each class, the joy of landing that difficult pose for the first time, and coming back for more, and more. It’s not a yoga perfect, it’s a yoga practice. I live for that practice.

I am enough.

Personal motto/ words I live by: Of this be sure: you do not find the happy life … you make it.
