My Journey with Yoga One & Baptiste Yoga
I was finished getting a haircut at 1111 Central when I noticed a sign for a yoga studio. I walked down to the basement and they were not open yet but I talked to one of the owners. When they opened I came back and took a class. I had tried Bikram Yoga a couple of times in Cleveland and didn’t really like it mainly because of the heat. However, my experience in the basement of Yoga One brought me back over and over again. What brought me back more than anything was and is the people that come to and teach at Yoga One. I was hooked. I signed up for the first ever Yoga One teacher training and started teaching at Yoga One. What was interesting is that I had studied yoga over the years and it came and went. It was really after a devastating divorce and a bout with suicidal depression that I found that yoga would save my life. My teacher at the time offered me free training… it saved my life, really! Deepest gratitude to Dympna Ferranti.
I remember during teacher training at Yoga One we were practice teaching and it was my turn… I thought I had done a great job. Then Johnna looked me in the eye and said (…do you talk like that in real life?)…I of course, did not…I was talking like I thought a yoga teacher should. I stopped that with a lot of help from my fellow teachers and friends. Thank you Yoga One.
I love that the Baptiste methodology follows the ancient teachings but with a fresh approach. I love studying with Baron and his no “bullshit” way of removing the debris that can cloud the truth. My experience with Baron has really made me look at myself and the many and various ways I limit my true potential. Each time I get on my mat it is new. There is no past, no mistakes, no what ifs… it is courage and determination to do the work. This work never ends…I love it.
I am enough.
