What are some of the frustrations students have with Y1 TT?

Typically trainees show up expecting certain things to happen in the training (think learning each pose à la Light on Yoga) and assuming that you need to learn certain things to be a good/real yoga teacher (think memorize the Yoga Sutras of Pantanjali). Yoga One’s training is steeped in yoga tradition and you’ll gain access to it through hands-on experience. You may feel frustrated that you are not experiencing the training in the way you expected or assumed you would.

Some trainees feel frustration during our challenging physical practices. The practice may highlight your “I can’t do this” dark side.

We will ask you to try on new things and look at things differently. All that you’ve learned before may be challenged, and it will be necessary to try on a new relationship with risk, fear, and failure.

What do I need to bring to each session?

Typically, you’ll need your yoga mat, several changes of yoga clothes, mat towels, hand towels, water, electrolytes, comfortable clothes for discussion, your journal and pen, your required reading, snacks, and lunch (we recommend bringing a small cooler).

What are the breaks like - will I be able to go home for lunch?
